This article is designed to help connect your Windows laptop to an external video display, such as a projector.
Firstly, connect your projector to your laptop using a VGA cable. There are 2 VGA ports (Computer 1 and Computer 2) on the back of your projector. Make a note of which VGA port your cable is connected to.
If you are using a Sanyo projector, a PRM-10 or PRM-20 projector, press the MENU button on your remote control and use the arrow keys to highlight the relevant VGA port (Computer 1 or Computer 2) then press SELECT. Another menu will appear. Using the arrow keys, highlight RGB or RGB Analogue then press SELECT. (Do not select RGB SCART or RGB Composite). Press MENU to exit.
If you are using a PRM-30 projector, press the relevant key on your remote control (Computer 1 or Computer 2). You may need to press the button several times to cycle through the options. Make sure you select RGB and not SCART.
If using a PRM-32, PRM-35, EST-P1, UST or PRM-45, press the Source button and select either VGA 1 or VGA 2. Press Menu to exit.
Locate the Windows key (at the bottom left of your keyboard) then press P.
Click Duplicate. Alternatively use the arrow keys to highlight this option and hit Enter. The image will now be displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
Right click on the desktop and select Personalize from the menu. In the window that appears, click Display Settings then Advanced Settings.
In this window you should see a tab for your graphics chipset. Click this tab then set your laptop to dual display or clone mode. The image will now be displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
Right click on the desktop and select Properties from the menu. The Display Properties window will appear. Click Settings and locate the Display dropdown. Click the dropdown and take note of the name of your graphics chipset.
Click Advanced, and then select your graphics chipset from the list below for further instructions. If your graphics chipset is not listed, please see the Other manufacturers section.
Navigate to the Intel tab then click Graphics Properties.
You will see a list of devices as follows:
In this example there is only one device but you should see your projector listed here. If not, please check your cables are connected correctly.
Click on the Clone button, then Apply and OK. The image will now be displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
Navigate to the NVIDIA tab.
If you cannot see the menu on the left hand side, click the little green arrow to expand it.
Click nView Display Mode, then Detect Displays.
Select the Clone button, then Apply and OK. The image will now be displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
Navigate to the Displays tab. You will see options for Monitor and Panel in this window.
Ensure that the blue icon with a circle inside is selected, click Apply and OK. The image will now be displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
Navigate to the Utility Manager tab and click Driver Mode Settings.
From the Display Mode dropdown, change Single to Mirror. Click OK. The image will now be displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
If your graphics card is not listed, it is still possible to toggle the image so it is displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard. Press and hold the Fn key at the bottom left of your keyboard, then press the relevant F key for your laptop as follows:
You may need to press the Fn + F key combination multiple times so that the image is displayed on your laptop screen and projected onto your ActivBoard.
